Thanks to everyone who came out and raced, watched, or helped out at the first ever Tamarancho Dirt Classic, Sunday 6/6 at Camp Tamarancho outside of Fairfax! Hope you had as great a time as we did at Marin County’s only annual XC MTB race!
Dario Frederick (#505) took the day by taking the Pro/Semi-Pro men’s category amid a tough, tough field including the legendary Ned Overend (red jersey at left). We also had a strong showing from the high school mountain bike teams (over 50 Juniors), a fantastic turnout of singlespeeders (over 20), a high percentage of ladies on wheels, plus local legends like Otis Guy and Joe Breeze all racing and enjoying the beautiful day at Tamarancho!
The race was a USA Cycling/NORBA Alison Dunlap Junior Mountain Bike Series event, the only one on the West Coast for 2010. The series is a junior development skills and points program, with an eventual path for some to the Olympics.
Proceeds will go to trail organizations BTC Marin and Access4Bikes, with additional contributions going to the NorCal High School Mountain Bike League, Friends of Tamarancho, and Marin Council, Boy Scouts of America.
The 2010 Tamarancho Dirt Classic was co-presented by Paradigm Cycles and Sunshine Bicycle Center, and sponsored by WTB, Violich Farms and Sugarbike.
